On the way to GreytonGreyton has many attractions and caters for people with diverse interests. Greyton originated in 1854 when a farm under the Riviersonderend Mountains was divided up into plots and the village named after the Governor of the Cape, Sir George Grey. It is now a sleepy village with Oak tree lined lanes and renovated old cottages which draw people from afar for its peaceful and romantic atmosphere.

Yearly attractions include the Greyton Winter Festival and the Greyton Rose Festival. During the October Rose Festival private gardens are open to the public, Miss Rose is chosen, roses are exhibited in many venues and competitions are held and prizes given.

Main Rd, GreytonThe Post House EntranceThe Greyton Winter Festival is held on the long weekend in June just before the winter solstice. It hosts art exhibitions with candle lit evening walks around the town during which the galleries offer warm Gluwein. The Genadendal Brass Band and other musicians play at various venues. Horse carts are available to take people on tours of the village.

Mountain Biking

Guided birdlife walks are arranged and the restaurants all offer music and fires and good food. At around the same time the popular Greyton Mountain Bike Challenge takes place.
